Workshop on Zoumalou Administrative Documents
The Zoumalou Workshop will be held at the Tang Center for Early China, Columbia University from April 28 to 29, 2017. This workshop, centering on the Zoumalou 走马楼 administrative documents, will bring together some of the world’s leading scholars to examine and discuss the materials.
The Zoumalou documents, written on bamboo strips and wooden tablets, were excavated in Changsha in 1996, dated to the Three Kingdoms period. This workshop will explore Changsha’s political status and the Sun-Wu Kingdom’s political economy through a careful reading and discussion of the excavated documents.
